Travel

Traveling the world is a must for us. It allows us to expand our horizons, have first experiences as family and meet new people. In addition to visiting our loved ones each year in our respective home countries, together we have traveled to Bermuda, England, Greece, Germany, Ireland and various states in the US. Not only do we like to travel to different places, but we also enjoy different modes of transportation.

Whether it be by foot, boat, horseback, car, bike, plane, train, bus -- you name it -- we do it all!

Visiting Family Each Year

An international family, our loved ones call Bermuda, the Caribbean, Canada, Europe and the United States home. Elle moved to the US with her family while in her teens and for Joe, the US became home in his early 30s after having visited on various occasions. As a result, throughout the year we travel to visit family.

Summers are usually spent in Europe with Joe's family and Christmas with Elle's family members. We go by plane to Florida and Washington State and then it's road trips to anywhere else. Best of all, our family reunions are destination events!

Places Visited

“Do you know the continents, the continents, the continents?  Do you know the continents?  Then sing them all with me. North and South America, Africa, Australia, Europe and Antartica – Asia’s the biggest one.” As Alex bellowed the song he’d learned in school, Elle turned to Joe and remarked, “Do you realize that collectively our family has visited almost every continent?

We should see them all.” Joe smiled, “Yup”.  Within minutes white construction paper, zig-zag scissors and purple grape-scented Elmer’s glue were out.  Antarctica added to the family vision board. Seeing the world and experiencing cultures first-hand expands our horizons.

Modes of Transportation

Some beautiful paths can’t be discovered without getting lost. — Erol Ozan

We travel in different ways. While a plane is our first choice for far destinations, we’re also content to trade intercoms blaring, taupe rubber-maid bins at airport security and dodging out of the way of people scrambling to find their gates for something else. The car is in order for longer rides such as shopping or road trips.

However, trains, buses, ferries, bikes, and walking are our preferred means of transportation and yes, sometimes we get lost. But it’s fun and there’s so much more to explore!
