What Joe Says About Elle ...
Elle is a warm and caring individual. She loves children, is creative, energetic and experienced in teaching kids of various ages. The eldest of three, she enjoys taking care of others and is excited at the prospect of expanding our family. Elle is strong, kind, loyal and fiercely protective of those that she loves. She derives immense joy from watching and supporting our son Alex’s growth, development and learning. People around her enjoy her laughter, energy and go-getter personality. I know that her love knows no bounds and she will always nurture, care and protect her family.
Elle's Favorite Things
Traveling
Like Joe, Elle enjoys traveling. Having grown up on the island of Bermuda, her first experience traveling was to Washington, D.C. when she was 12 years old which opened up a whole new world.
With her family, she has traveled to various states in the United States and also Canada and the Dominican Republic. Later when she lived on her own, she volunteered as a student missionary teaching English in Puerto Rico where she learned Spanish, spent 2 summers in Switzerland and visited Brazil.
After meeting Joe, she also traveled to London and Germany where they visit friends and family each year. In addition to traveling to various countries, Elle also enjoys different modes of transportation. Whether it be road trips by car, cross country by bus, century rides by bike, hiking in the mountains, ferry rides across the river or train rides or flying by plane, Elle enjoys it all.
Spending Time with Family and Friends
Elle is the more outgoing of the two. While Joe is laid-back and quiet, Elle enjoys meeting up and spending time with friends and family. Her best friends of over 15 years live in Indiana and Washington state, so on a monthly basis they have a Zoom call. Every few years, all their families meet up. As Elle has friends with whom she grew up, met from work and from the various countries visited, she also makes a point of keeping in touch.
Spending time with family is also important to Elle so on a weekly basis, she engages in phone calls with both her immediate and extended family members. Each year, she visits family members whether it be in various locations in the United States, Bermuda or London.
Nature
Elle is a lover of nature.
-
Hiking on nature trails
-
Biking/Cycling in the mountains
-
Swimming and spending time at the beach
-
Raising animals
As a child, she was fascinated with animals and watching them grow. Her mother said that as a child she loved touching all animals, but learned it's not always the best thing to do without knowing about the animal when Elle grabbed a pretty bee. Ouch!
During her childhood, she remembers her family having cats, dogs, chickens, fish, goats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs and birds (parrots, budgerigars, pigeons).
Elle enjoys taking care of the family's four cats (Rozie Pozie, Midnight, Small-Fry and Daisy). The family's two aquariums are always a hit with Alex's friends, especially the one dedicated to colorful mystery nails.
Teaching
Elle enjoys teaching no matter the topic. Her brother and sister would groan when she would drag them off excitedly to see the newest robin nest and sputter facts about how baby animals are born.
Always teaching, she enjoys nothing more than to see the sparks go off when she helps someone to learn something new.
Although she started her professional career as an elementary teacher, at her current job she develops training curriculums and teaches new hires within her organization.
Above all, she enjoys teaching Alex and watching his growth and development.
